Some users are experiencing a total blackout on the site. Whilst others are saying there are issues with the newsfeed and log in process.

To check the direness of this situation, we log out of some of our user profiles and found that the situation is awful.

We tested Facebook, Messanger, and Instagram and here is what we found:

  • If log out, unable to login to Facebook
  • If log out, unable to log in to Instagram.
  • Not working anywhere including app, mobile browser, desktop browsers etc.
  • The Messenger couldn’t load at all on a desktop.
  • The Messanger mobile app not working.
  • In Instagram posts aren’t loading.
  • Instagram Stories are down.
  • Instagram direct messages are not working.
  • Button to post new content on Instagram is not working.
  • Instagram feeds are not loading.
  • Instagram posts are just displaying the reload button with ‘network error’ message.
  • Facebook’s ad section not working.
  • Instagram promote post function not working.

So the summary is, if you have log out of Facebook or Instagram, you might not be able to log in till this problem exist.

A message on Facebook’s login screens read: “Facebook is down for required maintenance right now, but you should be able to get back on within a few minutes.”

The message links to a note on Facebook’s help center that reads:

This usually means we’re making an improvement to the database your account is stored on. While this process won’t affect your account, you temporarily won’t be able to access the site.

Keep in mind, we don’t do site maintenance on all accounts at the same time. It’s possible that your friends will be able to access the site while your account is still unavailable.

While Instagram keeps displaying on displaying error messages like:

“Oops… Something went wrong. We’re working on getting it fixed as soon as we can.”

“An unknown network error has occurred.”

“Oops, an error has occurred.” in the browser.

“Failed to load, RETRY” in browser and app.

Users took Twitter to report the issues, while some used Twitter to share the funny side of this situation.

I tried checking any news from Facebook to learn more about these outages. However, there’s no word yet from Facebook as to why the outages are occurring. Seems, Facebook has yet to comment on the reports.

For now, WhatsApp is the only major property that is working through all this mayhem.
